A Prayer for Lent

2007 February 21
by Art

O God our deliverer, you led your people of old through the wilderness and brought them to the promised land. Guide now the people of your church, that, following our Savior, we may walk through the wilderness of this world toward the glory of the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. AMEN

When I was growing up, we gave up candy and TV during Lent!
When Lent was over, i was so happy to have some candy!
    Thanks for the prayer, Art!

I never knew what Lent was until I married my hubby! he grew up in a CRC church, I am always amazed at how although both raised Christians we didn’t know a lot of the same things!

Thanks everyone. Happy Lent (?) to you all :) I cannot take credit for either the painting or the prayer. There is no copyright on the painting as it is over 400 years old but if you use the prayer, please credit the Lutheran Book of Worship, 1978.

Deepak, I want that loan nevertheless :)
