Alvis Edgar “Buck” Owens passed away on March 25, 2006.

Buck Owens was one of the most talented and influential country music acts of the 1960’s. With his musical partner, Don Rich, and band, the Buckaroos, Buck had 20 number one hits, revitalized country music and created the “Bakersfield Sound“.

Sounds fine to me! When I lived in Texas, I worked in the town of his birth and drove to work on the Buck Owens Freeway! He came to town so the freeway could be named in his honor. Don’t hold this against me, but when I was a kid – yes, Art, a youngster! – my siblings and I loved to watch “Hee Haw!”
