The Weekly Blog

Apparently, I am in “once a week blogging” mode without really intending to be. The weekends have been so busy lately and the beginnings of the week so hectic that it’s Thursday before things have calmed down enough so that I feel like doing much regarding the blog.

And with a busy work schedule, the holiday season approaching and more responsibilities at church, I don’t really see the situation changing anytime soon. I’m not giving up blogging but for those anxiously awaiting (as if) my return to daily posting, that’s probably not going to happen…

I am keeping up with Facebook, though, and I’m seeing an interesting phenomenon there. For one thing, more and more people are using Facebook. That coupled with an ever expanding list of features makes it more and more attractive as a blogging alternative. Over a year ago, Michael Martine (blogging expert and designer of this template) predicted that social networking services would one day render blogs all but obsolete.

I scoffed at the time, but now? Who knows?

I plan to have at least a couple of posts next week, including a new “CD of the Week” reviewing a long awaited new CD (and no, it’s not Chinese Democracy) and maybe some other really important stuff…

Until then, have a great weekend and all that.

I understand about Facebook. They do have some cool features. One of the ones I like is that your posts can appear on your profile with blogcast.

Sometimes weekly posts are better than no posts at all.

You enjoy your weekend Art with your lovely family.

Yah, I can waste as much time on facebook as I do blogging :P

I guess I’m the only person in the world that absolutely hated facebook & closed my account after about a month & a half. It’s certainly not out of the question for me to be the one guy that just didn’t get the fascination – I am used to being the outsider.

Looking forward to the CD of the Week feature though. I already wrote my Friday Five for tomorrow since my wife & I both took tomorrow off to go Christmas shopping.

I hated Facebook at first too. I called it “mySpace” for grownups. But with more features and more people now, it’s OK

Weekly updates work for me. Actually, I figured you’d stretch it out to every couple of weeks! ;) I certainly don’t do much better – once or twice a week at best.

Oh, yeah, my family has sucked me into the Facebook vacuum…and I do spend too much time there. So far, I’m only willing to “allow” family to “see me.” Perhaps I’ll allow friends, too, at some point…and then I may never blog again…

Oh Art…for the non comment on my blog…I may be old but i am fabulous! :D

Scott – give facebook another chance, I would throw a gummy bear at you, if only given the chance.

I totally love the Facebook! I’m thisclose to being addicted… it’s almost the first thing I check when I get online now..pitiful I know.

It’s really hard for me to keep secret what t he CD of the week will be…. man, you’ll have to hurry up on that one!

I’ll have to get with the Facebook program at some point. It seems EVERYONE is on it these days.

As for blogging, I don’t keep track of how often I write, but I notice I write A LOT! :)

With the new Blogger features, I’ll know when you post something new, so I’ll be back then.

    Have a wonderful weekend, Art!!

You want a recommendation? Try Heather Waters Propellor or Hope Waits (self titled)… one is destined to be my CD of the year the other was last years.

I love blogging, and I like Facebook OK. To me there are very different. I love blogging because it’s so unstructured and free. Facebook is fun, but way more “set” and a bit confining feeling at times for me. I think I will do both as long as I can stand it. :)

AWWWW Man! See? I really should put some time into facebook. I haven’t done hardly anything there. I LOVE hearing from folks (your lovely wife the other day was a nice surprise) but I am still immersed in the blogs.

When I set up my facebook account, I didn’t know what it was really. So it is set up under Jen Dustbunnyhostage. Anyone looking for ME are not going to find me, you know? Just bloggers.

I’m still out on whether Facebook will be truly useful for me.

Yeah, Facebook is nice. But it is getting hard to keep up with all the developments and posibilities… Blogging once a week is not such a bad idea – just keep us up to date and don’t forgen to enjoy life in the mean time! :-)

Hey any time we hear from you is great! I keep hearing about face book. I must be the last hold out. I lump it in with myspace. What do you enjoy about it? Maybe I will take a look see.

I’m so bad at facebook. I’m glad to read your posts whether once a day, or once a week.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I’ve been absent from blogging…my ‘boyfriend’ moved to London and was living with me so I found that blogging came down at the bottom of my list when I was just trying to balance living with someone and time alone – again. Now he’s gone back to his home country and I’m finding time again to blog.

Facebook – I’m on there too, and yes, I found that I was keeping up with it for awhile but now the program doesn’t let me know when someone has poked me and I think my friends have sort of gotten bored of it (as have I)

I don’t think facebook will replace blogging – blogging provides a forum for us to write out our thoughts and feelings (although I do find I censor because I know my ‘boyfriend’ is also a blogger). Facebook doesn’t really provide that forum.

But I think neither facebook nor blogging is a substitute for real interaction. I think that if you RL responsibilities and joys are keeping you to a once a week blogger, that is probably a sign of good quality relationships. And for that…I’m happy for you!

Sorry I’ve been gone so long…but good to ’see’ you still here.
    xx
